In 2002, Wayne Penney, Deputy Minister of the Department of Human Resources Labour and Employment, Government of NL, tasked Paul in his role of communications specialist to come up with a public presentation demonstrating the work done by the department during 9/11. This presentation would be given at an international emergency measures conference in California.
The Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment was responsible for all emergency social services for the stranded passengers who landed in Newfoundland and Labrador on September 11, 2001.
Not willing to simply have another powerpoint presentation, Paul came up with the concept of telling the department's story through visuals along with the spoken and written word. What resulted was a documentary style video that was met with a standing ovation during the conference and praise from government officials.
With no budget and only using only a handheld Hi8 camera and online video editing software, this video was written, produced, edited and filmed by Paul. It is an excellent example of Paul's diversity, creativity, ingenuity and talent to not only write for print but for a variety of mediums within the constraints of any budget or resources.
